Why a cross-market price index exists
A K-pop photocard does not have one global price. The same Jungkook Standard Cover card can sit at 9,000 KRW on Bunjang, 14 USD on eBay, and 1,800 JPY on Mercari Japan in the same week, with each number reflecting a different mix of currency exchange, shipping friction, counterfeit risk, and demand pocket. Buyers who only watch one venue end up either overpaying for "the same card" or missing actual deals. This index normalizes the five biggest venues into one view so the comparison takes seconds instead of tabs.
How we choose what to track
We index official-release photocards: album POBs, version-specific inclusion cards, fansign and Lucky Draw exclusives that have a confirmed source, and Korea-only retailer giveaway sets. We do not surface unofficial fan-art reprints, AI-generated lookalikes, or listings flagged as "photo of real card" without a verified inventory image. When a listing wave looks suspicious β same seller, identical photo, mass-listed across markets β we exclude it from the floor and median calculations rather than letting it pull the average down.
How to read floor and median
Floor is the cheapest active listing at the time of refresh. It is useful for an "I want this now" decision, but it is also the figure most easily skewed by a misprice, a misposted member, or an underage seller. Median sold over the last thirty days is the number to anchor a fair offer on β it represents what buyers actually closed at, after negotiation, after shipping, after the counterfeit checks that fall on the buyer. We display both so you can decide whether the floor is a deal or a trap.
Counterfeit risk by market
The five venues we cover have very different counterfeit profiles. Bunjang carries the most rare cards because Korea is where they originate, but unverified sellers on Bunjang are common and the burden of proof is on the buyer. X (Twitter) #ν¬μΉ΄κ±°λ is the highest-volume and highest-risk venue β listings disappear the moment they sell, which makes pattern-matching against scam accounts essential. eBay carries the lowest counterfeit rate due to PayPal buyer protection, but that protection is reflected in a higher price band. We label each card's recommended buying venue based on this risk-versus-price curve.
Update cadence
The index will refresh daily once the live pipeline is live, with intra-day refreshes for high-demand comebacks during pre-order weeks. Until then, the snapshots you see represent the most recent verified read for each member-album combination.
